This is extraordinary. I don't think there's ever been a Jonas album I don't really dig, but this is exception even for him. Tony Williams is on such outrageous form here, and the combination of his unique feel, Jonas' bass and the quartet makes for some wholly unique and beguiling music. So so good.

I spend a lot of time in my work talking about stories, and talking about different kinds of stories. On this recording (album) Steve takes you (me?) on beautiful, meandering journeys that tell the story of Steve’s conscious thoughts in a moment. Nothing more, nothing less. Many authors say that their stories only really become told as they are written. With only the general direction and some characters being pre-defined. That’s how I view this work. The songs only become written as they are played. And the parts influence the song, as the song influences the parts. And so, the story is told.

WOW 🔥This album resonates with me on so many levels. The song "Hudson" by itself is so amazing. The covers are nice, but Hudson, Woodstock, & Peace Chant really stand out to me. I grew up in the Hudson Valley, Staatsburg to be exact. Although I moved away, and no longer consider NY my home, I'm endlessly grateful for growing up in such a wild beautiful place. No matter how far away I am, my heart is completely connected to those roots and that river! Can’t wait for more : )
